Teapot sketches by Jay Wiese
These are ideas for small 12 oz. teapots, which is why the spouts & handles look so big. Later I might scan them into SketchUp and work out the details a little better.

The one word that describes my workspace is “compact”. My studio is a little over half of our one-car garage, about 130 square feet. I’ve had to be creative about how I’ve arranged my space in order to fit in all my tools, materials, and equipment, and still have room to make work. Even so, it’s still a constant (mostly losing) battle to keep the clutter down.
And yes, it *is* possible to get work done in here :)
Teapot lids, actually- hence the hole visible on the right lid. I guarantee they’ll integrate better with the form once I’ve made the teapots!
The New York Times notices the bowl, with the the help of the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, Oregon. Actually a pretty thoughtful article.

My studio is located in Gainesville, Florida, where I live with my wife Christine. Gainesville’s a good fit for us. It’s a college town, so it’s very laid-back and casual (that’s me you see walking barefoot around campus). But there’s also things like a world-class art museum (the Harn), and a burgeoning culture of independent artists and makers. Also it’s easy to get around- we can walk or bike pretty much anywhere in town.
